I am a freelance writer and photographer living in the Pacific Northwest, although I lived in Utah for over 20 years. I've written articles for magazines such as APPLESEEDS, FACES, Birds & Blooms, Bird Watcher's Digest, and Moab Happenings. Though I focus on natural history subjects, I also like to write about traveling, history, gardening, and pets.

I've written several field guides for The Globe Pequot Press: Canyon Country Wildflowers, Pacific Northwest Wildflowers, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks Pocket Guide, and was the text researcher for Yosemite On My Mind. My friend David B. Williams and I self-published A Naturalist's Guide to the White Rim Trail and I also wrote Moab Classic Hikes for the Canyonlands Natural History Association.

When I'm not at my computer writing, I like to spend time outdoors hiking, skiing, white-water rafting, bird watching, and camping with my family. Of course, you can see that these activities dovetail with my work!

Please check out my blog on natural history writing.
